Big Brown Brings Hope to Thoroughbred Racing Fans for the Triple Crown. |

We might have a Triple Crown winner this year when Big Brown races in the Belmont. He won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness this spring, and has a good chance of winning the Preakness. If he does so, it will be the first time in 30 years that we have a Triple Crown winner. The horse racing results from the two races favor him as the Belmont winner, but anything can happen in thoroughbred racing, good and bad.
Thoroughbred racing is fascinating to watch, and it goes by so fast for the actual race. The Belmont is just 1.5 miles long. The spectacle of the Kentucky Derby this year was marred by the tragic death of the race horse, Eight Belles. Unfortunately, the risks to the horses in racing are very high. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the Belmont hopefully we can cheer in a Triple Crown winner this year. If Big Brown wins it, there will be celebrations in thoroughbred racing circles, and it will make the front page in many a newspaper, nationwide. I've got my fingers crossed. |
