Handicapping With Your Eyes |

Making money handicapping horses can almost end up being a psychic experience, I mean, handicapping requires people to predict the future by analyzing the past and I don’t know about you, but I can’t even guarantee the sun coming out tomorrow. We make our bets in the present and that is when the races are run, in the present. Handicapping says that on the average if you look into the past you can pick more winners than losers, but this is on average. It is a big mistake to bet at the horse racing tracks and ignore what is right in front of you, what is happening in the here and now. But go to any race track or OTB parlor and you will find men and women poring over a form or past performances and totally ignoring the horses in the post parade or saddling ring. It does not matter how much handicapping you do prior to a race, if you don’t take a very close look at the horse you might still loose the race. I am not saying that handicapping is worthless, in fact, without it you will loose most of the time, but use it as a tool. Your first item on your checklist needs to be your impression of the horse on the day of the race and then added up with your handicapping information. Whether sight handicapping the horses or watching the tote board, the evidence of what is taking place in front of you could save you from betting on losers. |
