I have attached a video that I found on YouTube that exemplifies some real thoroughbred racing. There is no better place for an underdog to enter competition then on horse racing tracks. As you will see in this clip, not even a collision with the rail stops this jockey and horse from taking first place. If I'm not mistaken this horse was originally in the back of the pack until the final corner when he put on the juice. Like a shot of adrenaline the yellow rider surpasses the pack to take the lead. And what a lead it is. Without even slowing down the horse glances off the rail probably due to exhaustion but keeps at it until passing the checkered flag.
I'm not sure what the odds were on this race but I assume the horse racing results were not in the favor of the majority of those placing bets. Handicapping comes to mind at this point. Does anyone know what the weight limit for a jockey is? I am not schooled in the art of thoroughbred racing but it is definitely exciting especially when mixed with the thrill of placing a bet.
